3 Things That Might Surprise You About Me (Hi, I’m Nicole Your Oahu Wedding Officiant!)

If you’ve been hanging around Oahu Officiant for a while, you probably know that our team - myself and the wonderful Katharine - is absolutely obsessed with love! We’re all about creating meaningful, effortless, and deeply personal wedding ceremonies under the warm Hawaiian sun. But as the founder of Oahu Officiant, I wanted to step out from behind the scenes, peel back the curtain a bit, and introduce myself properly!

I’m Nicole. While I love romance, floral leis, and sunny beach vows, there’s a whole lot more going on behind the scenes. Here are 3 fun (and maybe a little surprising!) things you might not know about me:

1. I Can’t Spell (and Grammar is a Social Construct) as your Oahu Wedding Officiant

Sorry to every English teacher I’ve ever had!

Spelling has never been my strong suit, and honestly? I kind of feel like overly strict grammar rules just stifle our real creativity. Run-on sentences are my absolute norm, and the dash (-) is basically my favorite punctuation mark in both written and spoken English. Seriously—with how little I pause to breathe when I’m talking, you’d think I’d be a much better freediver than I am! But hey, perfection is boring, and I’d much rather communicate with real heart than worry about where a comma goes.

2. I Always Speak Straight From the Heart

As a former yoga teacher, I’ve spent years learning how to get out of my own head and just let the universe flow through me. When I’m standing up there with you on your wedding day, I let whatever needs to be said, be said. I don’t do stiff, robotic speeches. I channel the natural energy of the moment, the connection between you and your partner, and let genuine emotion lead the way.

3. I’m a Huge Astrology Buff (Yes, I’m Checking Your Signs!)

I’ll admit it - I’m a little "woo-woo," and I wear that badge with pride! I am a massive astrology buff, which means when you book with us, I’m definitely taking a peek at your birthdates and your zodiac signs to see what cosmic magic you two are bringing to the altar.

Whether we’re aligning with the stars or sharing a laugh during your vows, my goal is always to make you feel loved, supported, and completely yourself on your big day.
